When you first get your awesome new little digital camera the first thing you are going to want to do is of course take pictures of, well, everything. Most likely any poor person who happens across your path will find themselves becoming a model for your new found hobby. But how do you take good photos and NOT look like a complete idiot?

Here in Sydney it’s been raining hard for the last few days. Officially much of the country is still in drought and although it’s been dry for a long time when you get rain like this it’s hard to belive.
Anyway this got me thinking – some great photographs have been shot in ‘poor light’. I’ll post some examples later but if you remember any photos that have been taken in low light (the rain perhaps) and are great because of it rather than despite it, then please share below…

Search Engine Optimisation involves more than just great content. Another critical aspect is link building – because Google and co view evey link to your website as a ‘vote’ for your site, the more votes you have the higher up in the search engines you can expect to be.
However not all link building is equal when it comes to photography sites.
Some people CHEAT by putting up links from their own network of sites. This is risky because networks can be easily identified and the offending site can be punished. This is also the lazy man’s solution – suitable for those with no creative flair or original thinking.

Obviously events by their very nature are special occasions. After all for an ‘event’ to justify such a term it needs to be something special – not an everyday occurance.
If you decide that your event is important enough to need an event photographer, then it’s even biggger. That’s what makes is so important to take time to make sure you make the right choice. It’s not enough to just choose from a directiory of event photographers, you need to work ahrd to check references, portfolios and make sure you’re doing it right.
In a nut shell don’t take shortcuts when choosing event photographers.

Your wedding day is one of the most special, eagerly awaited days in your life; and often we spend a great deal of time and money to ensure that it is perfect in every way. Everything from the flowers to the food is given careful consideration in an effort to plan a cohesive and exciting event that is reflective of your personality. And nothing is more scrutinized than the photography – that which will be a lasting memory of your special day. Today’s sophisticated brides and grooms are looking to artistic wedding photography more and more – as a way to infuse their wedding with non-traditional style.

I’m looking to get started in stock photography but can’t get accepted in any of the libraries. My photos are mostly of animals and plants/flowers. I am getting a lot of downloads in the free libraries, but can’t get any of the paid libraries to accept my work. I see lots of work a lot less appealing than mine in these libraries. If anyyone can give some advice on how to get accepted and what photos would be best it would be appreciated.
